Fidesz becomes member of EP Patriots for Europe ‘party family’
Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party has become a member of the European Parliament’s Patriots for Europe “party family”, Kinga Gál, an MEP and first vice-president of PfE’s EP group, said in a video on Thursday.
“The Patriots have joined forces for a strong Europe of strong nations,” Gál said in the video posted on social media.
The objectives of the group’s members include preserving their homeland, culture, traditions and Christian heritage, said Gál, adding that “they are ready and willing to fight for their national interests, and they believe in a strong Europe built on sovereign nation-states”.
“We offer a European alternative. We strive to steer European politics back to common sense. Let’s give back to Europeans faith in our continent’s future!” The PfE group comprises right-wing parties of 11 EU member states.
