More and more young people are enlisting in Hungary
More and more young people are enlisting in the military, the defence minister said on Saturday.
This week, more than 200 new recruits reported for basic training in Tata and Várpalota, in the north, and in Kecskemét, in central Hungary, Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said in a ministry statement. He added that more and more reservists were choosing to become active-duty soldiers.
A recruitment campaign launched by the Hungarian Armed Forces in June continues to draw interest, the minister said, adding that more than 10 percent of the reservists recruited in the summer have moved to active duty. The armed forces recruited 2,600 new reservists during the four-month campaign, Szalay-Bobrovniczky said. He noted that 1,179 new recruits took their oaths at a ceremony last weekend at the campaign’s closing event.
