Hungarian FM Szijjártó: European politicians hindering successful peace talks between Russia and Ukraine

Change language:

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has warned European politicians “attacking the Hungarian government’s pro-peace stance” against “hindering the success of the peace talks” between Russia and Ukraine.

While Hungary has been arguing in favour of a ceasefire and peace talks for more than three years now, “Brussels and the Europeans have been attacking our country for more than three years because of this,” Szijjártó said in a post on Facebook on Monday, according to a ministry statement.

“But the election of Donald Trump has brought with it a hope for peace,” the minister said. “Thanks to Donald Trump, there are now direct talks between Americans and Russians, and between Russians and Ukrainians again. This has already made the world a more secure place.”

  1. If anyone is holding up the “Peace!” proceedings – it is now clearly You-Know-Who … Delay-delay-delay.

    • Absolutely. Use the old Clint Eastwood character and call him “The Man With No Name”. Should Hungary ever be attacked imagine the same treatment given to Hungary as Orban has given to Ukraine. In the interests of “Peace” do not assist Hungary.

  2. Yup, the Foreign Minister and the Prime Minister are still selling the same product……..used oats. The quality is horrible, but the price that Hungary will pay is high and getting higher.

  4. Side note: didn’t BFF Mr. Trump promise to single-handedly achieve “Peace!” in Ukraine in 24 hours? Only he could do this – or something? Special relationship with You-Know-Who? No mention of Europe?
