Budapest has been named the fifth-best destination in Europe for families travelling during the summer of 2025, according to the latest research by DiscoverCars.com. The study evaluated over 100 European cities based on a range of factors, including accessibility, accommodation and car rental prices, local attractions, and weather conditions.
Budapest: Family-friendly activities and top-notch accessibility
Based on overall scores, Hungary’s capital secured a spot among the top-ranked cities on DiscoverCars’ list. One of Budapest’s standout advantages is its outstanding transport connectivity: Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport handles 203 flights daily, making the city easily accessible from almost anywhere in the world.
Once in the city, getting around is easy. While Budapest is highly walkable, Tram Line 2 offers a particularly scenic journey—considered one of the most picturesque tram routes globally, thanks to its stunning views of the Danube Riverand the Buda Castle District.
Families with young children will find no shortage of engaging activities. The Palace of Wonders features interactive exhibits that introduce scientific concepts in a fun and accessible way, while the charming Children’s Railway—operated by children—offers a one-hour journey through the scenic Normafa area.
