New details emerged about the Danube boat accident

According to ABC News, four people drowned when a sightseeing boat was caught in a severe storm on the Sulina branch of the Danube Delta on Monday, near the Musura Gulf. Fourteen people were on board when the vessel capsized around 7:30 PM local time due to strong winds and high waves. Of those, six were wearing life jackets and all managed to swim to shore.

The eight others who fell into the water without life jackets were searched for and rescued by teams from the Tulcea County Emergency Inspectorate (ISU), the coast guard, the Romanian Maritime Rescue Agency (ARSVOM), the Tulcea County traffic police, harbor authorities, and numerous local residents using their own boats.

Survivors hospitalised

A total of ten people survived the accident and were taken to Tulcea County Hospital. Authorities have confirmed that none are in life-threatening condition.
