Fans, attention: Jason Momoa to perform in Budapest with his metal band!

Jason Momoa is best known globally for his roles in Hollywood blockbusters like Aquaman, Dune, and the Minecraft movie, but this August, fans in Budapest will see a very different side of him: he’ll take the stage as a musician with his own band, Öof Tatatá.

Metal legends covered: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Metallica

As reported by Telex, the concert is scheduled for 16 August at the Akvárium Klub’s NagyHall. Momoa will perform as both vocalist and bassist, joining longtime friends Mike Haydes and Kenny Dale in their heavy metal cover band, Öof Tatatá. The group made its debut in April 2024 and has been steadily gaining a global fan base ever since.

The band’s setlist includes iconic hits from Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Metallica, delivering a treat for rock and metal enthusiasts.

Dune in Budapest, Momoa on stage

Jason Momoa is currently in Budapest shooting the third instalment of the Dune film series, reprising his role as Duncan Idaho. This time, he’s joined by his 16-year-old son, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, who has also landed a part in the film, following in his father’s footsteps, according to Blikk.

Despite a busy filming schedule, Momoa is taking full advantage of what Budapest has to offer, not only preparing for his concert but also frequently spotted at local venues, where he continues to charm fans with his approachable and friendly demeanour.

He shaved off his iconic beard

In another surprise that stirred up fan reactions, Momoa shaved off his legendary beard, a signature look he had maintained for years. He did it for the new Dune film and didn’t hold back his feelings in an Instagram video: “God damn it, I hate it!” he laughed, jokingly adding, “I’m only doing this for you, Denis!”, a playful jab at director Denis Villeneuve.

The reaction from fans has been mixed: some mourn the loss of the rugged look, while others welcome the fresh appearance. One thing’s for sure: whatever Momoa does grabs attention:

Tickets now on sale

Tickets for the performance are already available, and given how rare it is to see the star in such an intimate, musical role, they are selling fast. The official Facebook event can be found here. Doors open at 9:30 PM, and entry is restricted to those 18 and older.

If you’ve ever wanted to see Jason Momoa rock out live, now’s your chance: it might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Budapest.
