Orbán’s challenger Magyar: Szekler Land is not Fidesz’s playground

Szekler Land cannot be a “playground” for the government’s “oligarchy system”, Péter Magyar, the leader of the opposition Tisza party, said on Saturday, in a Facebook message on his visit to Transylvania.
Magyar said he would “not let Fidesz expand its oligarchy system across the border”. He said the Tisza government would support “real developments” rather than political loyalty. While there is a need for capital and support in Szekler Land, “setting up an oligarchy system in Transylvania, like the one in Hungary, is not in the nation’s interest”, he added.
“The future Tisza government will work to support Hungarians across the borders in a transparent manner in consultation with locals, and to develop Hungarian communities across the borders in the name of culture and national cohesion,” he said.
