New bill: Will the use of digital devices change in Hungary?

István Hollik, a lawmaker of the co-ruling Christian Democrats (KDNP), on Thursday said he has submitted a bill to parliament on keeping children safe from the harmful effects of the use of digital devices.

Parents should be aware of the dangers the use of digital devices poses to children under the age of six, such as sleep disorder, anxiety or impaired speech development, Hollik said on Facebook. Studies have already been written about these dangers, and the World Health Organisation is also addressing the matter, he added.

Under the bill, all distributors that sell digital devices must place a warning next to the devices saying that their use is not advised under the age of six. “Hungary only has a future if our children can grow up healthy,” Hollik said.
