PM Orbán: the EU should push for EU-Russia summit

Hungary welcomes the steps taken at the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin and supports further negotiations, especially a second Trump-Putin meeting, the prime minister said on Facebook on Tuesday.
“We are keeping Hungary’s initiative on the table that the EU should propose an EU-Russia summit as soon as possible,” he added.
Viktor Orbán said that the leaders of the 27 EU member states had held talks on Tuesday. “It has been shown that the threat of a third world war can only be reduced with a Trump-Putin meeting. It has been shown that the strategy of isolation has failed… It has been shown that Ukraine’s EU membership will bring no security guarantees, so linking security guarantees with membership is unnecessary and dangerous,” Orbán said.
