Peace efforts, talks initiated by Trump must be continued, Orbán says

Efforts towards peace and the negotiations process initiated by US President Donald Trump must be carried on, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Facebook after a government meeting on Thursday.

In his entry, Orbán said the government had discussed the consequences of a Russian missile attack on Mukachevo (Munkács), in Ukraine’s Transcarpathia region.

The prime minister said he had given instructions to prepare hospitals in Debrecen and Nyíregyháza, north-eastern Hungary, to receive injured Ukrainians, but added that there was no need for those facilities.

Orbán also said Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó had contacted representatives of the Transcarpathian Hungarian minority, and offered the Hungarian government’s assistance.
