Fidesz accuses Kyiv of targeting Hungary through Druzhba pipeline strike

The aim of the Ukrainian attack against the Druzhba oil pipeline was to also use military methods to pressurise Hungary in addition to the political, secret service and media attacks, the head of the Fidesz-Christian Democrats group in the European Parliament said on Monday.
Tamás Deutsch told public radio that Ukraine was trying to make Hungary change its pro-peace position and its opposition to Ukraine’s accelerated European Union accession.
He said the European Commission which had previously stated that attacks endangering the EU’s energy security were unacceptable was now silent in connection with the military actions against the crude oil pipeline.
Hungary was again forced to resolutely stand up for its interests and together with Slovakia call on the EC to use pressure and diplomatic means in order to put an end to the Ukrainian military actions against the Druzhba pipeline which guarantees the energy security of Hungary and Slovakia, he said.
He added that the terrorist attack against the Nord Stream oil pipeline had also been committed by a Ukrainian player under instructions by the Ukrainian state and military leadership.
In response to a question, he said that because of the latest incident, the issue must be raised at the council of foreign ministers and the general affairs council, and it will have to be included in the agenda of the EU summit this autumn.
