Wizz Air opens new base in Europe, launching several new flights

The airline becomes a market leader in Armenia and is committed to providing connectivity to Europe and beyond. Currently, it operates 16 routes to 9 countries and aims to carry more than 1,2 million passengers this year.
Wizz Air opens new base, launches 8 new direct routes
The Hungarian low-cost airline, Wizz Air, opened its new base on 1 October at Zvartnots Airport, Yerevan, in partnership with Armenia International Airports. The budget airline would like to become a market leader in the Caucasian country, connecting passengers to Europe and beyond, according to their statement shared on the airline’s official website.

“Today, following the press conference dedicated to the official opening of the new base at Zvartnots Airport, Naples–Yerevan flight was welcomed with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by local crew, Roland Tischner, Managing Director of Wizz Air Hungary, Marcelo Wende, Director of “Armenia” International Airports”, as well as Gevorg Papoyan, Minister of Economy and Head of the Tourism Committee, Lusine Gevorgyan.

The new base will host two modern Airbus A321neo aircraft, helping the Hungarian budget airline to introduce eight new direct routes to Europe for Armenians: Prague, Hamburg, Paphos, Paris, Naples, Bari, Bucharest, and Memmingen. Furthermore, Wizz Air would increase flight frequency to Dortmund in Germany to four per week.

Cheap tickets, new jobs
Additionally, starting from September 30, 2025, Wizz Air has also launched direct flights from Gyumri’s Shirak Airport to Larnaca, Republic of Cyprus. “In total, the airline plans to carry more than 1.2 million passengers to and from Yerevan this year. Ticket prices start from as low as 9000 AMD (EUR 20) and are available for purchase both on their official website and through their mobile app.

Armenia is becoming increasingly important in our network, and our aim is to provide more smart travel opportunities for passengers travelling to and from Armenia. We are also excited to celebrate that two aircraft will join the Yerevan fleet in the winter of 2025. In total, Wizz Air will offer 16 routes to nine countries and provide passengers with direct access to Europe.

Nice except Armenie is not Europe.
