MÁV takes delivery of 50th new locomotive

State-owned railway company MÁV has taken delivery of 50 locomotives of a 100-unit order, state secretary Nándor Csepreghy said on Monday.

Csepreghy noted that Construction and Transportation Minister János Lázár had pledged at the start of the year to add 100 new locomotives to MAV’s fleet.

Another five locomotives will arrive by year-end and the remaining 45 will be delivered in Q1-Q3 2026, he said.

MAV needs around 200 locomotives to operate.
