Marilyn Manson comes to Budapest next year

Next summer, Marilyn Manson will perform in Hungary once again. The American rock star, renowned for his provocative and shocking performances, along with his band, is set to take the stage at Budapest Park on 22 July 2026.

The band resumed touring last year with their twelfth studio album titled One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1. According to the organiser Live Nation, who shared the news with MTI on Tuesday, they will be returning to Hungary for the first time in nearly a decade.

Marilyn Manson was formed in 1989, with the band—and its frontman, originally Brian Hugh Warner—taking their name by blending the names of Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. The lead singer, who initially worked as a journalist, believed that to the media, both the sex symbol and the cult murderer were merely sensational figures.

This choice alone indicated that Marilyn Manson intended to embody both a provocateur and a critic. Their debut album was released in 1994 under the fledgling label of Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails). It was their sophomore release, Antichrist Superstar in 1996, that propelled the band to fame. Recently, Marilyn Manson hinted on Instagram that their thirteenth studio album will soon be released, so the audience in Budapest may well get to hear new songs from it.

Sexual harassment, rape, and abuse allegations

This will be Manson’s first international tour since actress Evan Rachel Wood, followed by several other women, accused the star of sexual harassment, rape, and abuse. Ultimately, no charges were brought forward due to the statute of limitations and insufficient evidence.

Known for his controversial and shocking shows, Marilyn Manson last performed at Budapest Park in 2017, having previously appeared at the VOLT Festival in 2009.

In addition to his music career, Marilyn Manson is active in other art forms: he paints and has acted in numerous films and TV series.
