NobelMobil 2025 to roam the streets of Budapest next week celebrating László Krasznahorkai

On 10 December, László Krasznahorkai will receive the Nobel Prize in Literature in Stockholm, and to mark this occasion, the NobelMobil 2025 programme will set off — announced Magvető Kiadó to MTI on Friday.

The NobelMobil 2025 is a flatbed lorry that, on 10 December, will cruise through the streets of Budapest over 24 hours — from 6 am until 6 am the following morning — stopping at 13 locations for about an hour each. While moving slowly between stops, the vehicle will play recordings of Krasznahorkai László’s own readings from the texts of Mindig Homérosznak and Háborús architektúrák.

At the scheduled stops, members of the public can step onto the platform transformed into a cosy space, furnished with a chair, a table and an open book awaiting them. Visitors are invited to read aloud excerpts from Krasznahorkai László’s latest novel, released in November, titled A magyar nemzet biztonsága, and beside their chosen passage — in the margin — they may write their name.

According to the briefing, audio recordings of these readings and a film capturing the event will be made. This unique travelling guestbook, created collectively, will then be sent by Magvető Kiadó (a Hungarian book publisher company) to the author. The NobelMobil 2025 initiative was launched by artists who admire Krasznahorkai László’s body of work, with Magvető Kiadó as the main supporter and organiser behind the event. The project’s professional coordinators are community artist Aliz Miklusicsák and sociologist Ferenc Dávid.

Details of the programme, including venues and times for the readings, are available on the event’s official website.
