Could civil war erupt after next April? Every second Hungarian believes the election will be rigged
Political Capital has revealed startling findings about the upcoming parliamentary elections in April, suggesting that the outcome may trigger a possible civil war-like situation. According to their survey, half of Hungarians are convinced that Viktor Orbán and his party will rig the election. Even a quarter of Fidesz supporters believe the rules will be altered before the vote—an understated form of election manipulation within the broad spectrum of possible fraud.
Record turnout expected next April
So far, the highest voter turnout in Hungarian history under democratic conditions was at the 1945 National Assembly elections. Historians debate whether that election was truly democratic, given the huge advantages enjoyed by the Hungarian Communist Party due to Soviet troops and administrative interventions, along with the exclusion of ethnic Germans. Nevertheless, 92-93% of eligible voters cast their ballots, delivering a proportional 54% absolute majority to the strongest democratic force, the Smallholders’ Party.
If Political Capital’s latest poll is to be believed, a similarly overwhelming turnout—and mandate—could materialise next April. A striking 85% of respondents said they will definitely vote, while another 12% say they probably will. No previous poll predicted such high participation. The 2022 election saw a near-record turnout of 70.2%, which resulted in a two-thirds majority for Orbán’s party.
Interestingly, this time the Tisza camp seems more mobilised, with 95% planning to vote, compared to 86% of Fidesz supporters, 24.hu wrote.
Could civil war loom?
The survey also shows voters perceive politics as becoming more violent. Half of those surveyed expect fraud in April, yet 80% believe voting is even more crucial now than in 2022.

Half of the respondents anticipate election rigging by the ruling parties. Meanwhile, 63% think Fidesz will amend election laws before the vote. Notably, one in four government supporters shares this suspicion. That may trigger a civil war-like situation after the elections.
Among undecided voters—whose numbers, according to Gábor Török, are minimal when considering how many will actually turn out—rejection of government parties is much stronger than opposition to the Tisza camp (41% versus 16%).
Those who follow Hungarian politics won’t be surprised that committed voters tend to dismiss the opposing camp as brainwashed.

Unfortunately, a lack of trust in institutions has been a casualty of the political-cultural war that is going on The West – actually a continuation from 1914.
As to a violent civil war in Hungary – I was not aware that Hungarians are so well armed, but, if such a thing were to occur, it would just be a continuation of something that started with Kun Bela, resurfaced with Rosenfeld Mátyás, Kadar Jánós, and which many Budapestian Leftists, not to mention those in many big cities in my country, the United States, seem to now spiritually resemble.
That said, if such a thing did happen in Hungary, I think Budapest would quickly find itself isolated and running out of supplies.
If The Left feels that it is running out of patience with those who are not, and who will never be, then The Right is running out of patience with The Left’s unbelievable sense of entitlement to force upon us anything they wish.

With the passage of every day, my sense of the election is that Orban has shored up his soft support in the last several months, which means that Magyar & Tisza Party is very unlikely to break 40%.
Pass out the tissues to The Western Elite, for they were sure, what with the withholding of Hungarian tax-money, that they had engineered the perfect storm to toppled that pesky Orban.
If the election had been held a year ago, Magyar would have won – even 6 months ago.
His campaign, however, started too early and peaked too early, that giving Fidesz plenty of time to adjust.
Orban & Fidesz have adjusted, and, it seems, that they have more cards to play – while Magyar seems to have no other card left but to ponder returning to barnstorming across the countryside, only to repeat screaming the same points into his megaphone.

Fidesz is known to have registered dozens and hundreds of people at the same address in Budapest in the last election. Vote rigging has already happened in the past. Hungarians are docile people like sheep I very much doubt will engage in any kind of civil war. It’s Serbia that has the chance of civil war. Not Hungary.
