Have you seen them? Mother and 4-month-old infant missing from Budapest – police launch urgent search

Hungarian police are asking for the public’s help after a young mother and her baby disappeared from their home in Budapest’s 21st district, Csepel, on Wednesday. Their whereabouts have been unknown since midday, prompting a large-scale search.
Disappearance reported from Csepel
According to the Budapest Police Headquarters’ 21st District Police Department, 29-year-old Izabela Balogová, a Slovak national, left her home in Csepel with her young son around noon on 17 December 2025. Since then, neither the mother nor the child has been heard from.
Police have launched missing persons procedures under case numbers 01210-157/743/2025 and 01210-157/744/2025, and officers are currently searching for them.
Description of the missing mother and child
Izabela Balogová is approximately 170 centimetres tall and has brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was reportedly wearing a green jacket with a fur-lined hood, a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and black trainers.
Her son, Ferenc Zoltán Szabó, was taken with her in a black pram. The child was dressed in a dark blue, fur-lined snowsuit and a hat with a teddy bear design.
While some media reports describe the boy as 15 months old, police communications refer to him as an infant. Authorities have not provided further details on this discrepancy.
Police appeal for public assistance
The Budapest Police Headquarters’ 21st District Police Department is urging anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of Izabela Balogová and her son to come forward. Tips can be provided anonymously.
