Qvik payment: Hungary’s new mobile payment solution spreads rapidly

The Hungarian-developed Qvik payment system is spreading at breakneck speed, emerging as one of the most secure digital payment methods and becoming increasingly available at retailers, banks, and service providers across the country.
A new milestone has been reached in the domestic payments market with Qvik, as the mobile payment system, already available at Príma supermarkets, has now been rolled out across the entire national network of Praktiker stores. In addition, Díjnet’s online platform now allows utility bills to be paid via Qvik, enabling users to settle their obligations with just a few clicks.
Why choose Qvik payment?
As noted by Világgazdaság, one of Qvik’s biggest advantages is that users do not need to provide their bank card details. Transactions can be authorised directly on their mobile phones via QR code scanning, NFC tap, or clicking a Qvik link. Payments are processed through the instant payment system, meaning merchants receive funds immediately — unlike traditional card payments, which can take several days to settle.
Additional benefits include zero bank fees for transactions and broad support from the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) for the system’s expansion.
Rapid growth across Hungary
Qvik payment are steadily gaining popularity and, according to experts, may become the next success story in Hungarian financial transactions after the instant payment system. MNB data shows that by Q3 2025, the spread of Qvik transactions had accelerated significantly: the total transaction value reached HUF 17.1 billion, representing substantial growth in both volume and value compared with the previous quarter.
During this period, 421,000 Qvik payments were made — nearly eight times the number of transactions and more than twelve times the total value compared with the first full quarter after the system’s launch. Quarterly growth was also remarkable: between July and September, transaction volume more than doubled, and the average transaction value exceeded HUF 40,000, well above the average for card payments.
Experts predict that by 2026, several million Qvik payments will be made each quarter, with the number of participating merchants continuing to rise. By the end of Q3, more than 32,700 retailers had accepted Qvik, and the trend shows no signs of slowing.
Qvik payment therefore offers a fast, convenient, and secure alternative to traditional card payments, and the rapid uptake of mobile payments in Hungary clearly indicates a major shift in digital payment habits. Qvik is set to become one of the country’s most significant financial innovations in the coming years.
