Tragedy: 57-year-old man dies in Hungarian spa

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning at the Halasthermál Spa in Kiskunhalas, where a 57-year-old man died after suffering a medical emergency in one of the indoor thermal pools.

Tragic incident in Kiskunhalas’s thermal spa

According to information released by the spa’s operator, Halasi Városmenedzser Nonprofit Kft., the man became unwell shortly after 10 AM while bathing in the thermal pool. He subsequently submerged in the water, prompting immediate action from staff on duty.

According to Baon.hu, an on-site lifeguard began resuscitation efforts without delay, which were later taken over by paramedics who arrived at the scene within a short time. Despite their efforts, the man’s life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead at the location.

Police immediately started the investigation

Following the incident, the spa was evacuated and temporarily closed to the public. Police officers and forensic technicians carried out an on-site investigation to clarify the circumstances of the death. The Bács-Kiskun County Police Headquarters confirmed that the Kiskunhalas Police Department has launched an administrative procedure in connection with the case.

After the completion of the police inspection, spa staff carried out the mandatory hygiene and safety procedures in the affected pool area. The Halasthermál Spa reopened to guests later the same day, at 3 PM, according to the operator.
