Trump reaffirms support for Orbán just minutes after backing Japan’s PM in a similar manner

Donald Trump has once again publicly expressed his support for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, posting on Truth Social on Thursday to commend the Hungarian leader as a “truly strong and powerful” figure. He did the same thing for Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi minutes earlier.
In his post, the president highlighted Orbán’s record in protecting Hungary, promoting economic growth, creating jobs, enhancing trade, and upholding law and order. He described the two leaders’ cooperation as having reached “new heights of achievement” and expressed pride in having endorsed Orbán’s 2022 re-election campaign, adding that he is “honoured to do so again.”
“Viktor Orbán is a true friend, fighter, and winner, and has my complete and total endorsement for re-election as Prime Minister of Hungary — he will never let the great people of Hungary down!” Trump wrote.
Similar message to Japanese PM Takaichi
Interestingly, the US president posted his message to Orbán at 18:59, just 17 minutes after sharing a similar statement in support of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. In that message, Trump praised Takaichi as a “strong, powerful, and wise leader” ahead of Japan’s legislative elections, noting the progress in U.S.–Japan relations and trade cooperation.
Despite the high-profile endorsement, Orbán has noted that it remains uncertain whether Trump will visit Hungary ahead of the country’s upcoming elections in April. According to the Hungarian prime minister, this is partly because Trump’s approach is often unpredictable, with few details shared in advance.
If you missed it:

Nothing wrong with foreign influence in Hungary’s election as long as it is for Fidesz. Trump is in disfavour anyways and his reputation is in the toilet. Hungarians will figure that one out.
