Bad news for home buyers: property prices continue to increase incredibly in Hungary

Home prices in Hungary rose 17.5pc year-on-year in January, listings site ingatlan.com said on Tuesday.
In Budapest, home prices were 20.4pc higher. In a month-on-month comparison, home prices were up 1.7pc nationwide and increased 2.9pc in Budapest.
Prices in Budapest’s District XIII, with the most listings, averaged HUF 1.62m/sqm. The median price in the upscale District V was over HUF 2.04m/sqm.
In Debrecen, Hungary’s second-biggest city, prices reached HUF 1.07m/sqm. The cheapest prices in a county seat were in Salgótarján: HUF 339,000/sqm.
