Budapest, May 28 (MTI) – Police arrested one Russian and two Austrian nationals on suspicion of people smuggling on the M1 motorway in northwestern Hungary early on Saturday, the national police said on its website.
The three suspects were pulled over just before 2am. Each of them were driving a car with migrants in them.
Police determined that they had attempted to smuggle fifteen people out of the country, among them thirteen Syrian nationals, one Iranian and one Iraqi citizen. All fifteen individuals had pending asylum applications, police said.
