What can Hungarians stuck in the Middle East do now? FM Szijjártó shared updates – photos

The Hungarian government is doing everything to ensure the security of Hungarian nationals currently in the Middle Eastern region, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said according to a statement from the foreign ministry on Monday.
FM Szijjártó: thousands of Hungarians stuck amid increasing Iranian attacks
Szijjártó said after a video conference of all Hungarian representative offices in the area that the situation was escalating with “deteriorating security and increasing Iranian attacks”. Over 5,000 Hungarian nationals in the region including nearly 2,700 in the United Arab Emirates have so far registered for consular protection, the minister said, adding that the number was steadily increasing.
He said it was bad news that the airspace of countries with the largest number of Hungarians continued to be closed down, adding that Emirates flights were suspended “until at least Tuesday, 3 pm”. The airspace of Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Israel is also closed; local authorities in the UAE have asked foreign nationals to stay in their hotels, he added.

Flights 6-7 times more expensive than otherwise
The government of the UAE has assured Hungary to provide security and finance accommodation for all Hungarians in the country, Szijjártó said.
The authorities in Qatar have also called on people to stay indoors and have provided accommodation to everybody, he said, adding that the situation was the same in Bahrain. The airspace in Saudi Arabia is open with flights available to Europe and North Africa, he said. Oman Air flights are also available, but “flights are 6-7 times more expensive than otherwise”, he said.

Szijjártó also warned people planning to cross into Oman that accommodation there could be problematic and long waiting times should be expected at the border.

The real Hungarian golden age! Welcome!
Seriously, it is hard to believe that a lot of money is going to failed programs like the “pro family, make babies” thing, and they do not have money for these kind of emergencies. Unbelievable stuff. Thx god fidesz is leaving soon
So Szijjarto not much coming out of your mouth now. Well, do you support Donald Trump or do you support Iran? Which is it? It’s a no-win situation for Fidesz because they have claimed ad nauseum that they are the party “of peace” but they have been supporting Trump all along. If they are the party of “peace” why aren’t they condemning the bombing of their Iranian friends whom Szijjarto has pledged his “mutual respect” to? I see that the Fidesz English mouthpiece which is the “Hungarian Conservative” just put out an article calling the Iranian government a “harsh regime recognized as the foremost global proponent of terrorism—its affiliates include paramilitary organizations such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Hashd al-Shaabi (also known as the Popular Mobilization Units) in Iraq.” It goes on to blame the Iranian leadership for putting itself in this situation. Fidesz is now going to distance itself from the Iranian regime that it was close to for a number of years.
