The incident was first reported by government spokesperson Eszter Vitályos, the spokesperson of the Hungarian government and state secretary responsible for government communication, who is also the ruling party’s candidate in the local constituency. In a video shared on social media, she spoke by phone with the activist, who described the encounter.
According to the Fidesz volunteer, he rang the doorbell at an apartment in a residential building and introduced himself, explaining that he was gathering signatures in support of Vitályos. The resident allegedly asked him to wait a moment. Shortly afterwards, the man leaned out of the window and fired a gas-alarm pistol in his direction, writes Telex. The activist said he immediately ran away and was not injured in the incident.
