(MTI) – The 10th anniversary of Hungary’s EU accession will be celebrated with an outdoor festival in central Budapest on May 11.
The festival organised by the European Commission Representation in Hungary will offer concerts, a photo exhibition and children’s programmes including workshops, a clown-service, eco-programs, trampoline and the concert of Eszter-lanc tale band in Erzsebet Square.
An exhibition will feature photos by Andre Kertesz and Tamas Lobenwein under the title “100 Years, 25 Years, 10 Years: Turning Points in Europe” and photos documenting the process leading to Hungary’s accession in 2004.
A podium discussion will also be held in the afternoon on the theme of Europe divided by the Iron Curtain.
It will be followed by a meeting with young Ukrainians who will share their personal experience and opinion concerning the conflict in their country.
10 years – 10 km Running race
As part of the festival, a 10-km run will start at 10am from the square on a route along the Danube Bank.
The path of the competition touches ten major emblematic developments supported by the European Union. The participants will run across the Margaret Bridge and on the new main street of Budapest, they will pass next to the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, the Rudas Baths and the Castle Garden Bazaar.
The start and the finish line and the announcement of the results will take place in the Erzsébet Square. Those participants who finish the race will win a medal which symbolizes the ten-year-EU membership of Hungary.
