Orbán marks September 11 terrorist attacks on US
Budapest, September 11 (MTI) – Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has issued a statement to “commemorate innocent victims and heroes of disaster management” on the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
“We must reinforce our commitment to fighting terrorism”, Orbán said in the document, and warned that “terror has now arrived in Europe … and is spreading at an unprecedented rate on the continent and its immediate neighbourhood”.
“A terrorist threat has now become a part of everyday life … and not even Hungary has remained a safe country,” the statement said.
Orbán added that Hungary and the US fight “shoulder to shoulder” against any form of terrorism and noted joint efforts in international military missions as well as “exemplary cooperation” in security policy. “Our American friends can continue to rely on us. In proportion with our means, we stand by them in the world – to protect our lifestyle and for the security of our citizens”, the document added.
