Hungary’s defence minister meets Pentagon official
Washington, DC, October 13 (MTI) – Hungarian Defence Minister István Simicskó held talks with Robert Work, the United States Deputy Secretary of Defense, in the Pentagon on Wednesday afternoon local time.
Simicskó afterwards opened an exhibition marking the 60th anniversary of Hungary’s 1956 anti-Soviet revolution.
Speaking to MTI after the events he described Hungarian-US military cooperation as excellent.
He noted that Hungarian troops participate at about 40 joint military exercises each year with the US within NATO’s framework and they serve together with their US counterparts in crisis zones.
He said the Hungarian government’s decision to increase the country’s defence budget on an annual basis was “received very positively” in Washington.
