A touching Euro2016 Hungarian commercial was awarded in Cannes

You might remember the commercial, in which an old man waits years and years for success in Hungarian football. But it was worth the wait, because this year he could finally celebrate. Szeretlekmagyarorszag.hu writes that it seems like others also liked the commercial, because it won an award in the marketing communication category at Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards last week.

Including this award, MOL was awarded in three categories at the Corporate Media & TV Awards held in Cannes on the 12th and 13th of October. The winner works were created by the Greenroom and director Marcell Mankovits.

MOL’s Old Boys commercial was viewed over 700 thousand times on Facebook and YouTube in one week and it received many comments and shares as well. The commercial is about an old man, who is just getting ready for something. In the background, we can hear different broadcasts and reporters commentating Hungarian football moments from the past, which the man all lived through.

The first one is about the time when the Hungarian national football team became Olympic champions. This is followed by sorrowful commentaries about the end of an iconic era, tragic matches, failure, and how the team wasn’t able to qualify to world events for a very long time.
