Ader Attends CEE Summit In Warsaw
Warsaw, July 22 (MTI) – Nine central and eastern European heads of state, including Hungarian President Janos Ader, started a meeting in Warsaw on Tuesday in preparation for NATO’s September summit to be held in Wales.
Addressing the event, Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski underlined the need to guarantee the security of Central and Eastern Europe and strengthen NATO’s eastern wing.
Komorowski said the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict had become the biggest challenge to security in Europe since the Cold War. He added that relations between Russia and Ukraine should be seen as part of East-West relations. What is at stake in the conflict is the survival of the sovereign and democratic Ukrainian state as well as the credibility of “an order in Europe that is based on territorial integrity and the exclusion of the use of force,” he said.
The summit meeting is attended by the presidents of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
