‘Superfast internet’ to be built in Hungary next year
Budapest, November 28 (MTI) – Next February, work will begin on building a “superfast” internet network in 139 districts of Hungary, the government commissioner in charge of the Digital Prosperity Programme said on Monday.
Tamás Deutsch told a news conference in Szeged, in southern Hungary, that the country will be among the first European Union member states in which data transfer speeds of at least 30 megabits per second will be available thanks to a 150 billion forint (EUR 480m) investment scheme over two years.
The network is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, meaning Hungary will beat the common European target by two years, he said.
