The First skyscraper could be built in Budapest

The building regulation has been changed by the General Assembly of Budapest, therefore a high-rise building can be built at the Kopaszi Dam. This way the first 120 metres high skyscraper of Budapest was given a “green way”, reports Origo.

A 120 metres high building can be built at Kopaszi Dam after the General Assembly of Budapest changed the national development-plan of the city. The suggestion was supported by the corporation with 19 yes votes and 9 no votes.

The main component of the suggestion regarding the ad hoc change of the national development-plan of the city in connection with the Buda Bank-Kopaszi Dam development was the possibility of placing a 120 metres high rise building at the location.

The original regulation allowed a building of this height only in the Northern part of Csepel. The permissible height in the area, next to the Lágymányos Gulf, was 65 metres until now.

The developers of the area are planning a real neighbourhood, but not only a place where many live and work. They are planning a district where people go to relax, have fun, and spend their free time.

Kopaszi Dam was bought by Market Asset Management Kft. back in 2016. The previous owners, Mota-Engil, Finibanco and Estia, were Portuguese companies. It was announced in January that the existing park will remain untouched, and houses and office buildings will be built in the unused area. Allegedly, there have been negotiations about the exchange for a year. Market Építő Zrt. established a separate affiliated company for real estate development under the name of Property Market Kft. in 2015.
