Wizz Air operates Western Balkans lines

According to turizmusonline.hu, Wizz Air starts five new lines from Budapest to Western Balkans from April 2017. The new lines connect Budapest with Skopje in Macedonia, Podgorica in Montenegro, Tirana in Albania, Pristina in Kosovo and Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Ministry of National Development decided to order public service obligation and call public procurement procedure for the operation of airlines connecting Hungary with the economically important line of the area. The tender was released in the official paper of the European Union.  Wizz Air participated in the tender and won the tender. It was already announced at the end of November that Wizz Air will start the Budapest-Tirana line.

The flights to Skopje will depart on Wednesdays and Sundays from the 2^nd April, to Podrocia from the 3^rd April and to Tirana from the 5^th April. The traveling between Budapest and Sarajevo will start on the 5^th April and will be available on Wednesdays and Sundays, until the 9^th  April and on Mondays and Fridays from the 10^th April. Wizz Air will transport passengers to Pristina on Mondays and Fridays from the 7^th April.

Wizz Air is continuously expanding its network in Hungary. The airline is operating at two Hungarian bases right now, with 11 airplanes in Budapest and Debrecen, and it has been just announced that the Budapest fleet will expand with one more airplane from April 2017. Wizz Air transported 3.4 million passengers in the one year period preceding the 30^th November 2016. Beside the just announced lines Wizz Air announced further four lines in the next year: Faro, Hannover, Bergen and Lamezia Terme will become accessible with the airplanes of the low-cost airline, from Budapest.

The new lines ensure direct connection with the above mentioned countries boosting the two-way tourism and creating important commercial connections between Hungary and Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro.
