Breathtaking drone video of the frozen Lake Balaton
The record-breaking cold weather in the past weeks in Hungary has been challenging, but it also brought some of the most beautiful natural phenomena Hungarian winters can offer.
We have previously reported on the ice drift on the Danube, the ice sailing championship held on Lake Tisza, as well as the frozen waterfalls of Óbánya.
Lake Balaton also froze, and it’s now covered with 6-8 cm of ice, making it safe for people to take a slippery walk on the surface of the lake.
This astonishing drone video by Ádám Pintér shows the frozen lake from above, featuring the golden angel statue at the pier of Siófok, as well as some people and dogs having fun sliding around on the frozen surface of the lake. Check it out:
