(MTI) – Twenty-two people were injured aboard a bus with Romanian plates when it ran off the motorway M6 near Mohacs, south Hungary, on Friday evening, a spokesperson for the local disaster management authority told MTI.
The bus was a private hire, not a regular bus service.
Anett Kasza said there were adults as well as children among the passengers. Three people suffered serious injuries and 19 light injuries, she said. They were all hospitalised.
Pal Gyorfi, a spokesman for the national ambulance services, said there were 19 adults and 3 children, including a 3-month-old baby on the bus. The baby was taken to hospital for monitoring. Gyorfi said only 4-5 people suffered more serious injuries. Authorities closed the motorway section for rescue operations.
The bus broke the motorway barrier and fell into a ten-metre deep ditch by the road, turning to its side.
