Art Market Budapest to present 100 exhibitors from four continents
Art Market Budapest, central and eastern Europe’s leading international art fair, will present some 100 art galleries and exhibitors from 30 countries in four continents including for the first time the Far East, the event’s founder told reporters on Wednesday.
“Art Market Budapest is far more than just an art fair, it serves as a platform for shaping image and promote culture with the spotlight put this year on contemporary Roma art, on the art of design and on fine arts, and on visual culture in our digital age,” Attila Ledényi said.
He highlighted a strong showing of galleries from the Far East including South Korea, China and Japan and the presence of exhibitors from the United States, South America and South Africa as well.
The galleries presenting themselves on the largest stands include Hungary’s acb and Erdesz Gallery, Germany’s M Beck and Art Affair, Columbia’s Adrian Ibanez and Romania’s Jecza, Ledenyi added. Hungary will be presented by close to 50 exhibitors featuring some 300 artists, he said.
As Hungary has a special relationship with photography through the heritage of Andre Kerteéz, Robert Capa and László Moholy-Nagy among others, the art fair will present its satellite Art Photo Budapest, the only international photo art fair in the region, he said.
Art Market Budapest has attracted a quarter of a million visitors over the past decade.
The 13th Art Market will run from Thursday until Sunday in the Bálna cultural centre.
