Astonishing free beaches in Hungary

Change language:
Summer has finally arrived in Hungary, with daily maximums around 30 °C. However, the European Union’s highest inflation resulted in significant price rises regarding spas, baths and beaches everywhere in the country. Free beaches are rare but not impossible to find, even at popular destinations like Lake Balaton. Eduline collected some of the most well-known ones.
Balatonfenyves
In Balatonfenyves, several beaches do not require an entrance ticket. For example, on the Csalogány beach, you can play volleyball and use a playground for kids apart from enjoying the pleasures offered by the ‘Hungarian Sea’. Furthermore, the beach has a restaurant with traditional Balaton dishes from lángos to hake (hekk). Moreover, in István Király Street, there is a 40-metre-long beach segment where you can bathe without paying. Here is a photo from the Csalogány beach with the Badacsony on the other side of the lake, famous for its wines:
Zamárdi
The city’s central beach is the longest free beach of Lake Balaton, stretching 3 kilometres. You can play volleyball and basketball there, kids may use the playground, and you can take pedalos to the water. The view is astonishing since it is in front of the Tihany peninsula.
Balatonlelle
Do you want to avoid crowds? If so, you should go to Balatonlelle, where multiple beaches are free, including the Western free beach, the Szirom köz free beach and the Határ út free beach.
