Best street foods in Budapest – Part 1 – PHOTOS
A couple of years ago, quickly done but delicious foods appeared in Budapest’s streets. Since then, one can buy them even at restaurants. Funzine.hu collected the best places and here is the first part of it.
VĆ”gĆ³deszka (Chopping board)
This restaurant lies in the heart of the city and sausages dominate its menu. Traditional recipes are used in a modern and creative way, and visitors fall in love with the specialities at first bite. If you are near Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street, go to VĆ”gĆ³deszka and try Robuci. It is a wonderful pair of homemade lecsĆ³ omelettes and a sausage you can choose. Furthermore, we also recommend Merguez that is made of 50% beef and 50% lamb. Additionally, it has curry, chilli, and cinnamon to make the taste even more delicious. People who like fast food will definitely like this place. Give it a try and enjoy the traditional Hungarian foods with a modern twist.

VegaCity
This is a busy restaurant near KƔlvin Square and Astoria. It is a good choice for vegetarian people as well, and all those who want to have a diverse diet. There are tasty hamburgers, sugar-free desserts, sandwiches, fresh juices and smoothies. We recommend Gandaburi if you want to try a gluten-free, vegan burger. The banana-date cake is one of the best desserts that are also gluten-free. VegaCity is open from 7 AM until 9 PM. Additionally, after you finished your meal, you can grab some healthy ingredients for your dinner right next to the restaurant, at the Bio ABC or Vitamin ABC.

Waffle Dog
‘Grab and go foods’ also include desserts and Waffle Dog found a special way to make them. The owners got their inspiration during their visit to the Benelux Union. That was the time when they decided to bring their waffle wonders to Hungary. Fantastic looking delicacies that taste even more fantastic are packed with all kinds of goodies you can image, for example, homemade vanilla creme, Hershey chocolate sauce, jam, fruits, tĆŗrĆ³ rudi (Hungarian dessert made of sweetened cottage cheese in a chocolate “fur”), and high-quality sweets. There are also Dutch pancakes made freshly right away in a few minutes.

MiniZso Bagel
It is the little sibling of KicsiZso (‘Kicsi’ means small, ‘Mini’ is even smaller). It is awaiting street food fanatics with gourmet bagels from 7:30 AM until 5 PM on weekdays. The restaurant in Buda offers bagels with salmon, chorizo (Spanish sausage), or ham. All you need to do is telling your dream bagel to the chef who will make it for you. There are also soups, coffee, and desserts. Furthermore, cold beers and fresh juices help you appease your thirst. The charming MiniZso on HattyĆŗ Street is a true pearl of the Hungarian street food industry.

Bubba’s Downtown
Captain Bubba made it again – he opened a new restaurant at Egyetem Square recently. There are about 80 meals on the menu: crab, scallop, squids, whole fish and fish without fishbone. You can find the widest variety of Fish&Chips in Budapest here, not to mention the Beef Burger specialities. For those who love seafood, this is Heaven, but even those can eat here who do not like seafood. There are delicious desserts, filling breakfasts, bottles and draft beers, smoothies, and high-quality wines.

Bors GastroBƔr (Black Pepper GastroBar)
If we had to name the restaurants serving the best soups, Bors GastroBĆ”r would definitely be in the TOP 3. This place makes its fan club happy with specialities from time to time. One of their latest creations is Sancho, that is a seasoned, Mexican bagel. Among the salty soups, they also offer many sweet ones that were inspired by delicious desserts. On the constantly changing menu, there already have been soups such as the strawberry cheesecake, the Bounty, and the Hungarian trĆ¼ffel cake soup. There is only one thing that is even better than the soups, and that is the utterly friendly staff.
