BMW could start production at plant in Hungary around 2023
German carmaker BMW could start production at a plant in Hungary around 2023, German daily Stuttgarter Zeitung said on Wednesday.
BMW announced on Tuesday that it would build a one billion euro plant in Debrecen, in eastern Hungary.
Recruiting will start next year.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed for the paper that the plant would turn out both cars with combustion engines and electric motors but said a decision on exactly which models would be made there had not yet been taken. BMW will not make the MINI brand at the plant, the spokesperson added.
