Boat line D2 has been launched in Budapest
The Municipality of Budapest presented a new boat line which is planned to operate during the period metro line M2 does not serve Kossuth Lajos tér. Line D2 is a daily shuttle service from morning until early evening between Batthyány tér and Kossuth Lajos tér.
Regular fares apply on the boat services, so it does not involve any extra cost, yet at the same time it gives you plenty of extra travel experience – said Ms Alexandra Szalay-Bobrovniczky at the ceremonial opening, adding that during the Advent period light garlands will decorate the vessels.
Commissioned by BKK and operated by BKV, the scheduled boat line was launched on 3 December 2016 and it is planned to complement the Hungarian capital’s transport options until the spring of 2017. The service can be used on weekdays and at weekends as well with regular tickets and passes, no need to buy public transport boat tickets. The involuntary transfer due to metro replacement is not considered as a trip interruption, so for instance if you are heading from Széll Kálmán tér to Kossuth tér, buying a new ticket is not required when changing from the metro to the boat, it is sufficient to show the ticket previously validated on the metro and vice versa.
