Accident: A boat ran aground on the Danube — VIDEO

A boat became stranded on the Danube near Dunaföldvár today, likely due to low water levels affecting navigation.
Low water levels cause problems on the Danube
As Szeretlek Magyarország reports, a boat has become stranded near Dunaföldvár on the Danube, drawing attention to the ongoing difficulties faced by river traffic amid persistently low water levels. Photos and videos shared by a local resident in a community Facebook group show the vessel grounded on the river’s left bank. Dániel Kőszegi, who captured the images and works as a shipping operations manager, noted that the vessel was likely travelling upstream when it strayed from the fairway and became stuck. “I don’t really know what happened,” he said, adding that the barge will probably remain stranded for the next 4–5 days. A minor rise in the river’s water level is expected later this week, which may help refloat the vessel. Incidents like this underscore the growing impact of fluctuating river conditions on navigation along the Danube.

Let me guess: “climate change”!
Of course! “drawing attention to the ongoing difficulties faced by river traffic amid persistently low water levels”
Except, it’s been raining more than usual lately and we have at least a couple floods per year where the Danube overflows. Plus, it’s clear that this vessel was oversteered due to either a mechanical fault or human error. If your ship is perpendicularly headed for the shore, it’s sooner or later going to hit it. Water levels had nothing to do with it.
