The Budapest Chief Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against a 43-year-old woman who killed her casual acquaintance, a 64-year-old man. The crime was committed with particular cruelty in an apartment in the VI district in April 2020. The woman took some valuable objects with her, but she could not get out of the apartment for hours because of the security bar at the front door.
According to the indictment of the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office, the woman was released in February 2020 from arrest in another criminal case. She became homeless in Budapest. On the morning of 16 April, in the VI district, under the Nyugati Square overpass, she was begging from motorists parked there when an elderly man walked past, writes Origo.

The woman addressed the man and they started talking. The elderly man invited the woman to his home in Terézváros. After the woman accepted the invitation, they walked together to the Podmaniczky Street stop of trolleybus 72. They got off at the Bajza Street stop and went to the man’s house, where they had a drink and continued talking. After these incidents, in circumstances not known, the woman attacked the man in the apartment.
The woman stabbed her victim forty times all over his body with a pocket knife. Meanwhile, the victim tried to defend himself by holding his arms in front of him. After the failed attempt at self-defence, he finally collapsed and died.
Here is what followed the cruel act
Then, the woman searched the apartment for valuable items. She collected a few tens of thousands of forints worth of various items – including a drill kit, binoculars, a mobile phone and packaged coffee – which she put in two plastic bags.
When the woman was done, she tried to get out of the apartment. She could not open the security bar of the front door, so she shouted for help. It was only hours later that she escaped the home. Police detectives caught the murderess within half a day after a neighbour reported the crime. They then closed the investigation and sent the documents to the prosecutors.
