Brutality! Hungarian man arrested for breaking a child’s bones
The Prosecution Office of Kaposvár indicted a 32-year-old man for physical abuse against a one-and-a-half-year-old child. The little boy was abused to the extent that several of his bones were broken. There have been quite a lot of cases of child abuse this year in Hungary.
In the announcement, the Prosecution Office wrote that the 32-year-old man hurt the son of his partner several times. He is accused of repeated grievous bodily harm. The 21-year-old mother is also accused of endangering the life of her son. The prosecutor proposes imprisonment and disqualification from public affairs, writes telex.hu.
In May 2020, the defendant moved in together with his partner, with whom they were raising the one-and-a-half-year-old son of the woman, who was born from her previous relationship. During this time, the little kid was very often fussy and he cried a lot, which bothered the defendant.
He tried to make the child stop crying by brutal methods: on several occasions, he slapped him hard on his face and on his body – he even threw the baby into his crib from a 40-50cm distance.
By the end of July 2020, the child has suffered several injuries, all severe enough even on their own. He was diagnosed with fractures on his ribs, shin, and metatarsal bone.
The child did not receive proper medical treatment after a check-up because
the mother did not tell the truth about how he acquired his injuries, not even when he was unable to stand from the fractures.
The woman did not stand up against the abuse either.
The injuries were finally noticed by the family doctor in July who sent the child to the county hospital, where tests run on him showed clearly that the injuries were caused by mistreatment. The hospital notified the police and child protection services.
After they received the notification, the Investigation Office of Kaposvár detained the defendant, whose arrest was then ordered by the Court based on the proposition of the Prosecution Office.
The child has recovered from his injuries since then and was placed in the care of an orphanage.
