Budapest Aquatics could promote 2024 Olympic bid, says Budapest Mayor Tarlos
Budapest, June 24 (MTI) – A successful Budapest World Aquatic Championships in 2017 could help Hungary in its bid to host the 2024 Olympics, Budapest Mayor Istvan Tarlos told public television M1 on Wednesday.
Tarlos said the expected success of the championships would “obviously” be considered when the decision is made on the venue for the 2024 Olympics just a few weeks later. The championships will be a good advertisement for Budapest, he added.
Speaking on another subject on public Kossuth Radio, Tarlos said he trusted the government would assist Budapest’s ailing public transport system, which he said needs at least 20-25 billion forints (EUR 65-81m) from central coffers.
