On Tuesday, the Hungarian National Asset Management Inc. (MNV) took possession of the land where the popular Külkerpark Beach operates in Budapest’s 2nd district. According to the organisation, the takeover was carried out based on a court ruling, as the state-owned company holds an 86.9% ownership stake in the property, Telex reports.

The previous operators of the beach announced the development in a message posted on the venue’s social media page, saying they had been informed that the site had been transferred to MNV and that they no longer have control over its operation.

“We would like to thank you for the summers spent together, the many shared experiences and the support,” the operators wrote, addressing visitors and long-time supporters of the park.

They added that they currently have no information about what will happen to the area under its new management.
