Budapest (MTI) – The Budapest bypass M0 will become a partial toll road from January next year and only specific stretches and the M31 motorway linking it to M3 will remain toll free, the development ministry said on Wednesday confirming a report by online news portal

Certain stretches of the M0 have been built or modernised from European Union funding and regulations on EU support do not allow the introduction of a toll on these roads, the ministry told MTI.

In addition to the current range of motorway toll payment options, a new annual e-toll sticker will be introduced at 5,000 forints that entitles cars to use toll roads within a specific county, it said.
