Budapest (MTI) – The Budapest bypass M0 will become a partial toll road from January next year and only specific stretches and the M31 motorway linking it to M3 will remain toll free, the development ministry said on Wednesday confirming a report by online news portal nol.hu.

Certain stretches of the M0 have been built or modernised from European Union funding and regulations on EU support do not allow the introduction of a toll on these roads, the ministry told MTI.

In addition to the current range of motorway toll payment options, a new annual e-toll sticker will be introduced at 5,000 forints that entitles cars to use toll roads within a specific county, it said.
