Budapest’s City Park Ice Rink at full throttle with loads of fun very popular among foreigners

Starting this Sunday, the City Park Ice Rink will be operating at full throttle, with a host of colourful events designed to get everyone buzzing.
Last season saw a whopping 337,800 visitors take to the ice, and the Budapest Sports Service Centre says the hype remains immense – from local skaters of all ages to the growing number of international fans who have been turning up in force since Covid. Determined to keep standards high, the operators have introduced a sleek new rubber pathway between the historic hall and the rink. Coupled with excellent skate rentals for serious users and rinkside food trucks, it all makes the venue significantly more comfortable, the Hungarian News Agency reported.
For the children, the team has stocked up on additional skating aids: Bobby the blue seal is now joined by a 60-strong family of fellow seals to make weekend skating lessons a breeze.

December is packed – Father Christmas is popping by this Saturday afternoon, World Ice Skating Day arrives in Budapest on the 14th, and the ever-amusing Ugly Sweater bash takes place on the 19th. January brings the Night of the Ice Rinks and Hungarian Ice Hockey Day on the 17th, followed by the epic International Freestyle Skating Festival (a huge hit last year) from 30 January to 1 February. February features K-pop Day on the 7th and Hungarian Skating Day on the 22nd.
Check out the official website for all the details on events and opening hours – you can also purchase tickets online, including new e-passes for adults and students (or simply buy on site). The rink is expected to close in late February, weather permitting.
