Budapest, July 23 (MTI) – Hotel occupancy has shot up in Budapest for the weekend when the 30th Formula One Grand Prix will take place on Hungaroring near the capital, daily Napi Gazdasag said on Thursday.

The event this year is expected to draw 10 percent more visitors than in 2014, most of them coming from abroad, the paper said.
The Budapest Grand Prix last year attracted a record number of 247,000 spectators, it said.
Hotels and commercial accommodations in Budapest had 90-100 percent occupancy last year during the race in general with major hotels in the capital fully booked, Istvan Kovacs, secretary-general of the association of Hungarian hotels and restaurants, told the paper.
We expect a large number of guests at all types of accommodations this year, he said.
Huge demand has allowed hotels to increase their room rates by 5-10 percent which is interesting from the point of view that this has still left Budapest’s international ranking untouched as the cheapest capital for tourists, Kovacs said.
