Budapest mayor lifts smog alert
Budapest, January 6 (MTI) – Budapest Mayor István Tarlós on Monday lifted a smog alert in the capital after weather conditions had improved, the mayor’s office said.
The concentration of small dust particles in Budapest’s air fell below the threshold value at all recording stations on Sunday, the statement added.
Tarlos expressed thanks to all Budapest residents who reacted to the alert by reducing the use of solid fuel and oil heaters and opting for public transport instead of car use.
The national environmental health institute said that air quality had improved throughout Hungary on Monday.
