The next, 36th instalment of the Budapest Spring Festival will await audiences with a colorful programme between 8 and 24 April, 2016.
Absorbing themes will again provide focal points for the programme in 2016. In celebration of Ferenc Liszt, his and his contemporaries’ pieces will be played by such ensembles as the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Weimar, and the Hungarian Radio Choir. Liszt was the inspiration for László Dubrovay’s dance production, which will be performed by the dancers of the Pécs Ballet. In April the festival will host the performance of such world stars as Ramón Vargas, the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala with conductor Myung-Whun Chung, and jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter. Les 7 doigts de la main, one of the most original troupes of contemporary circus, presents what promises to be a very exciting production, their Cuisine & Confessions, at the Festival Theatre.
