Budapest traffic paralysed again this weekend – here are the details

Traffic changes and restrictions are expected in many parts of the capital due to a running race.

Road changes

Due to the SPAR Budapest Marathon, traffic will be partially or completely restricted on the lower and upper quays of Buda on Saturday (8 October) morning, and on the Danube between Rákóczi Bridge (Rákóczi-híd) and Árpád Bridge (Árpád-híd) on Sunday (9 October) morning and early afternoon.

On Sunday, the Liberty Bridge (Szabadság-híd) is expected to be closed to road traffic from 10:30 AM until early afternoon. Lane closures are also expected on Margaret Bridge (Margit-híd) and Árpád Bridge, Turizmus Online reports.

The start and finish will be at the Pázmány Péter promenade (Pázmány Péter sétány) in District XI, which will be closed on Friday for preparatory works. After the runners have passed, the road sections will be gradually opened, the organisers said.
